Moscow apartment designed by Sisters’ Design
Artistic interior of Moscow apartment by the design duo Ilona Menshakova and Irina Markidonova with LIAIGRE pieces
We present to your attention the artistic and elegant apartment in Moscow designed by Sisters ‘ Design duo – Ilona Menshakova and Irina Markidonova, with pieces of furniture and light from LIAIGRE.
Most of the apartment is given over to the living room. There is a lot of black color and unusual textures in it. For example, a huge black book cabinet is made of wired-brushed dark wood that creates the effect of burnt wood. The designers deliberately raised the structure to the level of the window — the effect of levitation makes the rack visually lighter. Our best-sellers Mandarin arm-chairs in pearly leather and Dinka floor lamp in ebony designed by Christian Liaigre are located in the elegant living room.
And for balance the designers wanted to add black color to the opposite wall and came up with a custom screen made of the same material. “We wanted to create an elegant corner here, so we hung a large sconce by Apparatus made of bronze, horsehair and frosted glass on the ebony, which highlights the screen so that its texture becomes visible.”- Ilona says.
As the customers wanted, the living room is made in very restrained shades, dominated by gray, beige and black. And when the designers decided to add a few bright accents, they first observed what colors the owners prefer in their clothes — so finally there were dark turquoise chairs and a pair of vases. The kitchen is connected to the living room, and the most noticeable part of it is the walnut island. Designers like to use the same material of different textures in the interior. So, the floor is smoked walnut, the kitchen is light, and the stools, on the contrary, are very dark, almost chestnut color. The personal spaces of parents and daughter are also monochrome, but filled with art.
